About Me

Craig Edmonds

Craig Edmonds moved to Marbella in 1999 when he married his Spanish sweetheart, Ester, and decided that they had had enough of the hustle and bustle of London. Craig originally comes from a hospitality industry and financial management background working with such companies as Royal Carribbean, Planet Hollywood and Sheraton Hotels, nor runs Marbella Guide alongside a thriving web design and hosting business from his central base in Marbella. Ester and Craig have a wonderful daughter, Olivia Edmonds who arrived in late October 2005. Craig and Ester love movies so have been actively updating the cinema list on Marbella Guide for the last 9 years giving details of which cinemas show the latest English Version of the latest films. Along the way he has also written various articles about Marbella and its history.

How We Started

I came up with the idea of marbellaguide.com early in 1999 when I was thinking of moving down here from London. Back then there were only a couple of web sites for Marbella so there was little info available about the place, well because lets face it, the internet really the internet was in its infancy then. The word “blog” did not even exist in those days! I just started adding and writing about various things about marbella.

One thing I did start in the early days was the cinema list. There are a few cinemas across the coast which show films in their original language, namely English, so I started updating the site with the listings every Friday as they would come out and then email a few people with the updates. Quite soon I had to buy some mailing list software to start sending out to a few hundred people, these days we have 2,500 + people who live here subscribing to the cinema newsletter.

Marbella Guide is fully funded by myself with the help of a few advertisers so the site is not really run over by ads like most sites. Recently I added a blog which is going great, we manage to add at least 2 to 3 serious articles per day at the moment, so its really becoming a great source of information for people rather than a directory of businesses. It brings me great pleasure to be able to impart some of my experiences and knowledge about this wonderful town and I smile when people write in and thank me for taking the time to share with them.
